Wayne Wakeland: Metamodeling

چکیده

This paper suggests a technique for improving the conceptual-ization of models. The key aspect of this technique is to set aside the main model for a period of time during the model conceptualization process and focus on building a "watchdog" submodel. The primary purpose of the watchdog submodel is to assure that the main model remains internally consistent during its operation. In the experience of this author, such a submodel can help to identify model conceptualization errors and to determine if a model is sufficiently "robust" to adequately replicate the behavior of the system being modeled.

Evolutionary Strategies as a Verification and Validation Tool

We describe the use of evolutionary algorithms to improve verification and validation (V&V) of a model simulation. Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have two characteristics useful for V&V. First, they search a broad range of values in the model’s parameter space. This allows testing of unusual combinations of parameter values that might not be found by more conventional bounds checking and sensiti...

A review of physiological simulation models of intracranial pressure dynamics

This paper reviews the literature regarding the development, testing, and application of physiology-based computer simulation models of intracranial pressure dynamics. Detailed comparative information is provided in tabular format about the model variables and logic, any data collected, model testing and validation methods, and model results. Several syntheses are given that summarize the resea...
